Program & Curriculum
This program is designed to help women gain insight and skills to better deal with the difficult and painful experiences they have encountered in life. In this group, women learn to understand and manage the effects of trauma specific to their lived experiences as women. This will help them understand more about themselves and to develop healthier relationships. Curriculum is from Beyond Trauma developed by Stephanie Covington with influences of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Each session is two hours long, once per week.
Who Can Benefit from Beyond Trauma
‘Beyond Trauma’ is geared towards women who have experienced traumatic events (including but not limited to rape, sexual assault, physical abuse, emotional abuse, natural disasters, etc.) at some point in their life and are still affected by this trauma. This group will help bring awareness and knowledge to promote change and growth. Beyond Trauma is designed to develop a sense of safety internally and externally. Involvement in this group will give you a place to explore and try new things in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment.
